Her work has earned her three Olivier Award nominations. In the year 2015, she was a part of Game of Thrones' fifth series as Septa Unella. Also she played the lead character of Septa Unella in the 2012 film version of Les Miserables. Waddingham was nominated for the Golden Globe Award. She has been playing the role of Rebecca Welton on the Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso from 2020.
